Workshop Description
Learn the basics of landscape painting in this fun oil painting workshop. Participants will work INDOORS from a photo (yours or mine) of a local spot.
In the process, improve your colour mixing (we will be using only 3 colours and white) and design skills.
Jean encourages students to bring their own personal impressions and unique voice to these small paintings. Our goal is to gain the confidence to paint plein-air at some of the Olive Branches events!

Tutor: Jean Cauthen
Level: Intermediate (some painting experience is advisable)

About the Artist
For the past 10 years, Jean has been returning to Listowel to set up her easel on the streets and alleys of town to paint 'en plein air.' Her emphasis is in capturing the spirit of a place through shapes and colour. She's delighted to share techniques and approaches of landscape painting.
She earned an MFA from James Madison University and enjoyed a career teaching university level Art and Art History and led the Art Department of Caldwell Community College.
